Fred is trying to cool off in front of the Pantheon. It is definatley summer!
The Pantheon is one of Rome's best preserved buildings. It is absolutely magnificant. It was built in 129 A.D. yet looks newer that some buildings in the U.S. built 129 years ago!
As we were walking from the Pantheon to the Trevi fountain we walked past a church and decided to go in. We were surprised at the beauty that lie inside. This is the Church of San Ignacio. It was built in the 1600's and was completed in just 6 years! What took them so long? Hahaha.
The Trevi Fountain is a 'must see' in Rome. If you through a coin in you are ensured to return.
It works! I through in a coin last time I was here in 2003!
Now it is Fred's turn...
There are fountains all over Rome that are constantly running. Anyone can fill up their water bottles or cool off at these fountains. It is easy to be sceptacle of the water but it is delicious, and it is free (and so it is hard to deny).
Our last stop on our first day of Rome was the Spanish Steps.
The Steps are not super spectatular (although it is another tourist 'must see') but at the top there is a great view of Rome. What a perfect first day!
I found Rome a city of bricks and left it a city of marble....Augustus!
ReplyDeleteSo nice he stopped by so you could have such great photos from your trip!
Love them all.
