White Rhino Stalking

It has been too long since I have seen my sister and nieces, and because I had some spare time today I waited patiently until almost 7:30 before texting my sister to ask her what she was doing.  Just a few short hours later we were exploring the Safari Park.

Agrusa's Super Sandwiches really is super.
I love an excuse to pick up a 16" toasty, gooey, delicious sandwich.

While we were eating a cheetah walked by.

Robert the Zebra is a new addition to the park, he is an interactive cartoon zebra whom my sister and I appreciated way more than the girls (who doesn't love a good J Lo joke?!).

Qinisa is just 7 months old and is so fun to watch.

While waiting for the tram I ran into a parent of one of my students who works at the park.  She told us all about the new baby white rhino, Kayode.  We didn't see him on the tram ride so she told us to come back in an hour.  We did and she took us on a private cart tour to find Kayode, or more appropriately, to rhino stalk.

We quickly found the 12 day old calf (our tour guide knows the park well).
The other animals are very interested in the "little" baby and watch his every move.

What a treat to get an inside glimpse of the park!
It pays to be in the right place at the right time and to know the right people.

In the wild the mothers stay with their young to protect them from predators who know this is their only shot at tasting a rhino.

The Safari Park just doesn't get old.
There is always something new to look at, or something new to look at you.

  1. WOW this is such a great post Brady. Every photo tells a story and all demand a comment. I love all of them. I especially love the baby elephant. Truly, besides my own, my favorite baby of all time. Sweet.

How lucky for you to get the private Rhino tour. Again, WOW.

The first photo is incredible. I love that face and the last face. What a great bird. He seems deep in tought.

I love seeing your fun and sharing in your adventures. Keep them coming.
