Fourth of July is kind of a big deal in Idaho Falls.
Every man, woman, child, and pom looks forward to it.
We have been listening to fireworks go off (big ones, at all hours) since our arrival in Idaho.
Let the festivities begin!
This sweet baby is about to take place in her first 5K!
If you look on the lawn, on either side of the street, you can see chairs set up. People start staking out their territory days before July 4th, in preparation for the parade, which starts soon after the 5K ends.
Apparently I am a slow runner...
Done!
Our baby started in her stroller and ended in her carrier, but she made it.
God bless America!
After the 5K we walked back to the same 5K route to have frozen otter pops and candy thrown at us as the parade went past.
I honestly don't think it is a great idea to throw candy to kids standing in the street, encouraging them to come even closer, as big rigs drive past, but we are in Idaho...
"Staying Alive" played loudly as CPR was performed on dummies, in unison. It was definitely the most creative parade entry.
So, is Mr. Overalls respecting the flag or disrespecting it?
And the theme goes on.
Such a beautiful day in Idaho!
It doesn't get more patriotic than this!
Lastly, we stayed up until 10:00(!!!) to watch the the firework show on the Snake River.
I don't think we could have possibly had a better vantage point.
I had debris regularly landing in my eyes. We watched as trees and brush across the street caught fire, and put out by firetrucks patiently waiting nearby. I swear, anything goes in Idaho.
This was the longest firework show that I have ever seen, and I have never been closer to the pyrotechnician, just right across the river from us.
Well this little baby woke up during the firework show, so Josh's mom spent an hour with her in her arms. But there was no complaining, from anyone.
