Although it would have been fun to spend more time at Gold Beach we are making our way down south, and need to make sure we have time to see family in Humboldt.
Gold Beach is just south of the Rogue River. It gets its name from the gold that miners found in the sand at the mouth of the river in 1853.
The Rogue River Bridge was built in 1932, and is not only Historic Civil Engineering Landmark (who knew that was a thing?) but has also been placed on the National Registrar of Historic Places.
We are continuing our trek down south on the 101, enjoying the beautiful vistas as we go.
You just have to love isolated Oregon fog pockets.
The exact half way point between Gold Beach and Trinidad is Crescent City.
The last time we were here we really enjoyed the tide pools but the timing today wasn't right. The tide was too high, not only for tide pools but also for a visit to Battery Point Lighthouse (also listed on the National Registrar of Historic Places).
We will have to enjoy it from afar.
We will be calling The Emerald Forest in Trinidad home for the next two nights as we spend long overdue time with family.
Let the family reunion/ cousin love fest begin!

The sights along Oregon's coast are breathtaking. You captured so many that Steve was not willing to stop for (when it's time to go home, you go). I'm happy I get to see them here. WOW. And that fog photo, so unique to there.
ReplyDeleteMy heart was so happy when I saw that sweet exchange between A1 and A2. ADORABLE... all of it. What special memories you are making. WOW.
