Honeymoon- Day 21- Biking Riquewihr and Ribeauvillé

One thing I love about Europe is reasonably priced pastries.  For some reason, with the exact same ingredients and similar recipes, pastries are three to five times more expensive in the US.
It makes no sense.
Colmar is not our favorite place to visit so we were anxious to walk to Vélodocteurs at the train station, and rent electric bikes to escape the city.

This is today's bike route.

It was a little tricky to bike out of the city and find the vineyard bike path. There is no signage in the city, so you have to look closely at the map, which lists hardly any street names.
Eventually we were on the bike route.
Once you get out of the city and on the bike path, the signage is pretty decent.
We did lose the path at one point, when leaving Riquewihr, for a good four miles, and had to ride on the main road, which was a little sketchy, but on the way back to Colmar, we were golden.

Our first stop is Riquewihr.

Hotel de Ville was constructed in 1552, destroyed centuries later during WWII.

Ribeauvillé is super touristy, while there was no one in Riquewihr.  Ribeauvillé's vineyards have existed since the Middle Ages.

This is our first experience with electric bikes.  They were ideal for this situation.  They ride like normal bikes but the bike gives back some of the energy that you put in.  It made the bike ride much more manageable, although you still suffer from saddle soreness.

Biking in the wine country of France is so beautiful.

We were out for about six hours and rode a total of 25 miles.
By the evening, our bikes were locked up, the batteries on the charger for tomorrow's ride.
