The Great American Road Trip. Day 6. NM-CO. Trinidad and Denver.

Today was a long day in the car.  Too long.  It takes 5.5 non-baby-in-the-car hours to get from Santa Fe to Denver.  We stopped for lunch in the old rancher/miner (turned pot shop) town of Trinidad.  According to CNN, pot saved this town from an abyss of nothingness.
For all of the pot shops in town it was surprising not to find very many restaurants.  Oh well.  Grocery stores are known to have food too.

Trinidad is full of beautiful, ornate buildings, paid for with ranching money in the late 1800s.

Giddy-up, Cowgirl!

Almost 8 hours and one I-am-so-done-being-in-the-car freak outs later, we were in Denver with my friends Val and Damien.
Their dog, Chica, is used to being fixated on by little ones.

I pretty much planned our whole road trip itinerary around visiting Valerie in Denver.
That and I wanted Eric to have a better impression of Denver than his last visit 20 years ago (so we can come back and visit Val and Damien again!).
