395 Fossil Falls

I love spring break.  With Fred's new injuries we decided to drive to Tahoe, instead of fly.  We took it easy for the day and stayed in Lone Pine versus driving straight through.  And since we were not worried about time we took a small side trip off of the 395.

Fossil Falls is an area where basalt (formed by volcanic eruptions 400,000 years ago) was eroded by glacial runoff during the last ice age.

When I saw the sign for Fossil Falls I asked what it was, Fred asked if I wanted to see, and that meant exploring.

Fossil Falls is gorgeous. It looks like nothing we have seen before.

This area has been inhabited for the past 10,000 years.  You can see the attraction to the area.  With the Owen river flowing through here they had everything they needed, beauty and resources.

I just had to throw in a picture of our new car.  It has made the drive even more enjoyable.

  1. Man you guys. You find all the cool stuff. I love this series of photos and am really excited to stop there on our next migration south.

Thanks for being the tour guides for us all.
