Día 9- Granada a Málaga

Kimmie is here!!  Kimmie woke up at 4:00 to take a taxi to Geneva airport in order to fly over to Málaga for the day (sans baby).  By the time our bus arrived and we got a taxi to Hotel Málaga Picasso, she was already drinking coffee with her feet in the pool.

Kimmie's return flight is this evening, so we have the whole day to explore this underrated city.

It took a while to pick out the best restaurant for us to have lunch in the historic part of town.  Well, I suppose with 3,000 years of history (starting with the Phoenicians who named this city Malaca, because of the way they salt their fish), it is all historic.
You can't go wrong with a place called La Bouganvilla.

Patatas bravas!

Paella y tinto de verano!
The paella is just seafood, no sausage (even Eric liked it).
Tinto de verano is a popular Spanish summer drink made of red wine and a carbonated soda and a little lemon.  It is delicious.

These were gratis.

With little desire to go inside the cathedral, we headed right over to the Alcazaba.

The Alcazaba is a Muslim palace/fortress was built in the 11th century.

It is less elaborate than we have seen at other Muslim palaces but just as beautiful.

Hmmmm... I think I have seen columns like this before... I can't quite put my finger on it...

Just think about all of the beautiful jewelry permanently lost to the lithosphere.

The Roman amphitheater was not recycled, thankfully.

We tried to be quick when taking this picture, but not quick enough.  We got in trouble.  It was very incorrecto what we did.  We got too close to the Roman ruins.  I blame Kimmie.

The last item on the agenda was the Picasso museum.  Picasso was born in Málaga.  The museum houses works that you can see no where else, personal paintings of his family among others.  There are over 200 pieces, that you are not supposed to take pictures of (Eric, that was very incorrecto of you!).
What a fun day in Málaga with Kimmie!

  1. Brady, I loved your day in Malaga! AND how super cool that Kimmie could be there (she looks great by the way). Your food photos are exceptional and they made me hungry!

Such cool stuff you are seeing. Is it sensory overload yet? And Eric, keep breaking the rules. I'm with you dude.

    Missing you both.
