Honeymoon- Day 2- Dublin

Here we are in Ireland, where my name is normal!  Well, Brady as a last name, but this is a start.
We just arrived this morning, found our hotel and dropped off our bags, and we are headed out to see Dublin.  It is before noon, so sitting down is not an option or we may realize that we are tired.

Hodges Figgis bookshop has been in business longer than our country has been a nation.

Unlike most bookshops in the States, there is an entire World Cup section.

Trinity College was founded in 1592 by Queen Elizabeth 1, and is Ireland's most prestigious college.

Close by Trinity College is Temple Bar, named because three hundred years ago sailing ships unloaded their goods along the loading docks (aka "bars") along the river.  Now it is filled with tourists, shops and restaurants.

O'Connell Bridge used to divide the wealthy and the poor.  It is still considered less safe on the south side of the bank.  We spent about thirty minutes on the south side, before heading back to Temple Bar for dinner (not because we were scared but because we were hungry).

The General Post Office was taken over by Irish Nationalists in 1916, used as rebel headquarters in an attempt to end British rule in Ireland (more on this tomorrow when we visit the jail).

I couldn't imagine eating anything else on our first day in Ireland.  Boxty is a traditional Irish dish, it is basically a potato pancake wrapped around something delicious, like vegetables.

Eric got a corn beef boxty and I had a vegetarian chili boxty.  They were delicious.

If you look in the left hand corner you will see in Starbucks.  Dublin is 41 square miles and has fifty one Starbucks!

Tight pants and trainers are super popular here as well.

What a lovely...
first day in Ireland/
on vacation/
honeymoon!

  1. Your posts always crack me up. The tight pants and trainers. Wild.
I knew you'd love Dublin. What a great place. Truly. So glad you arrived safely and are sharing it with us.

As for the name Brady being out and about, remember I saw a Brady Irish Bar in Portugal. You are famous.

Keep sharing. I'm loving your trip so far.
