The Highlands are an area of sparsely populated mountain ranges, that makes up most of northern Sctoland. Today we are headed into Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, which isn't far from our home base in Falkirk.
Our first stop is just outside of Callander, where the Highlands begin, for a short hike to Bracklinn Falls
As we continued on to Killin we drove along Loch Lubnaig. Karlijn said something about driving by lakes to her Scottish boyfriend and he corrected her, "we don't have lakes in Scotland, we have lochs."
Karlijn thought that maybe lochs are deeper but no, lochs are lakes.
Just be cautious about who you say this to.
The Falls of Dochart run right through the town of Killin, where we stopped for lunch (for the best fish stew I have ever had).
We also drove along Loch Earn as we looped back to Falkirk.
Karlijn wanted to take us to a five star luxury hotel, Gleneagles, so we can see how the other half live, like Prince William and Kate.
The first floor has gift shops, so that, for example, if you forgot your Rolex you could add 41,000 pounds to your bill.
I wouldn't fit in here at all. I would just be asking, "how much is that?" before ordering anything.
The last stop on our tour is Milk Barn in Falkirk. The shop is located on a farm. Its like "farm to table" but "utter to ice cream".
I got fruit sorbet and lemon cookie. It was delightful.
Finally back at home, we ready of a delicious "picky" dinner (I am not sure if this is Dutch or Karlijn, but it means a dinner of hors d'oeuvres).
