Ghent bike ride perfection

Fred and I had the most incredible bike ride in Ghent. We rode to the countryside, and although there was rain looming, we managed to avoid it.

The bike ride was along the canal. It was very relaxing.

Fred was so excited about this cornfield, he swears he has never seen one before.

Right behind this shack in the middle of nowhere was a fancy Thai food restaurant packed with locals.

As we looped back to the B&B on the otherside of the canal Fred shouted that we had to stop. Out of the corner of his eye he saw people sitting outside eating pots of mussles and drinking beer. Being that I told him we had to eat mussels in Belgium, he knew I would be excited. We hung out here for almost 2 hours, eating the hugest pot of mussels with onions and celery, having french fries (again), and drinking beer next to the canal and another large cornfield.

It was absolutely perfect.
I am sure the locals wondered how in the world we found this place.

  1. I think you're suppose to eat mussels in Brussels because it rhymes! This is an exceptional day of exploring and finding. Maybe you should have included maps and contact info for people who google "where to eat in the middle of nowhere"!!!

Thanks for the fun vicarious lunch!
