It took an hour or two longer to get to Brugge than I had expected. It was the first day of construction on the rails in Holland (as if it is different from normal with all of the copper theft delaying trains). Even though we arrived late there was plenty of daylight, being that it doesn't get dark until 10pm! After checking in to our B&B (Ad Libitum...great B&B) we headed out to explore the town. We immediately fell in love.
Belgium is famous for its beer. It has 125 breweries in a country the size of Maryland. I was very excited about getting my first draft beer here, it was amazing.
One thing we love about Brugge is the architecture. Since the city's economy is based totally on tourism they are able to fully preserve the medieval buildings, and became a UNESCO site in 2000.
I love the history you infuse into your blogs. Very informative. My favorite photo in this series the the one of Fred looking at the building. The pattern of the pavement is amazing and dramatic. Wow.
